Abstract

MANO, Raquel de Paiva  and  COSTA, Ileno Izídio da. "God did not die and the devil exists": Phenomenological reflections on a spiritual experience and serious psychic suffering. Rev. abordagem gestalt. [online]. 2015, vol.21, n.2, pp.162-176. ISSN 1809-6867.

It is a study of the spiritual phenomenon in clinical psychology with individuals in severe psychological suffering. We start from a phenomenological approach, visiting four seminal authors: Edmund Husserl, Edith Stein, Rudolf Otto and Paul Tillich. We additionally use the psychoanalytic approach of Donald Winnicott in discussion and clinical management, in addition to other authors of the area. Such revision will provide a reflection on the pseudocultural and religious experience or possession of grace and contemplation, as opposed to psychotic crisis and its related, aiming to promote discussions and new positions on the diagnostic postulated by traditional psychiatry and clinical psychology.

Keywords : Phenomenology; Spiritual experience; Serious psychic suffering; Psychoses.
