Social anomie is a state where the individual does not perceive in norms an object capable of guiding and regulating society efficiently. The high level of anomie in society is related to the incidence of problems in the social group. In the present study we intend to investigate the psychometric properties of the Srole Social Anomie Scale in Brazilian workers. This instrument is an indicator that helps to diagnose this phenomenon in a group of workers. For this, data were collected with 635 workers with ages varying between 18 and 73 years and average of 45.79 years. An exploratory factor analysis procedure was performed, which showed satisfactory indexes (Alpha = 0.79, Composite Reliability = 0.80, Mean Extracted Variance = 0.55) and pointed the instrument with a single factor that explains 34.06% of the variance, one item being withdrawn from the scale. The procedure of confirmatory factorial analysis indicated satisfactory indexes of adequacy of the model. The results reinforce the unifatorial solution of the instrument that demonstrated satisfactory psychometric properties.
