Abstract

ROCHA, Jessica Norberto; SCALFI, Graziele  and  MASSARANI, Luisa. ECA 30 years old and the right of children and adolescents to museums and science communication. Est. Inter. Psicol. [online]. 2021, vol.12, n.1, suppl.1, pp.115-137. ISSN 2236-6407.  https://doi.org/10.5433/2236-6407.2021v12n1suplp115.

This research, of an exploratory nature associated with bibliographic research, discusses the access and participation of children and adolescents to museums, scientific-cultural places and science communication actions, taking into consideration their rights to education, culture and leisure guaranteed in the Brazilian Statute of the Child and Adolescent 1990. Despite some progress achieved in the 30 years of the Law, inequalities persist and are portrayed in the text. We started with a reflection based on readings on the importance of these places in the development of children and adolescents, followed by the presentation of data on the exclusion of fundamental rights of this age group in Brazil. Subsequently, we bring research results in order to build arguments that show the potential, challenges and recommendations for the access and participation of children and adolescents in museums, scientific-cultural places and science communication actions, which are a fundamental part of their psychological and intellectual development.

Keywords : child and adolescent statute; social inclusion; scientific and cultural participation.
