Abstract

CARVALHO, Fernanda Cristina Gomes de  and  PAIVA, Maria Lucia de Souza Campos. The point of view of three generations of women about marriage. Bol. psicol [online]. 2009, vol.59, n.131, pp.223-235. ISSN 0006-5943.

The purpose of this work was to investigate the point of view about marriage of three generations of women in order to understand how they experience this relationship. The clinical qualitative method was used with six women who composed the sample: two teenagers, two adults and two elderly women. An interview was conducted with each participant, followed by the application of four TAT cards. The psychoanalytic framework was used to analyze the results. The conclusion was that women’s perspective regarding their own role in society and in marriage is related to personal values acquired through their life history and into their experienced familiar models. Younger women’s speech was revolutionary and incoherent with their unconscious manifestations for they still searched for an idealized marital relationship and a familiar constitution based on some traditional and conservatives standards.

Keywords : Marriage; Woman history; Psychoanalysis; TAT.
