Abstract

OBJECTIVE: This article presents research conducted with teachers in a special education school in São Paulo and aimed to evaluate the functionality of students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders. METHODS: A protocol for functional assessment based on field activities and participation by the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health. RESULTS: This study showed significant differences between age, year/grade score when evaluated for functionality, so as shown in the literature. CONCLUSION: It is further considered as a key point of discussion the school environment in which students are attending reviews, which can positively influence the academic and functional evolution of these students, as well as proper planning of pedagogical interventions through an evaluation performed well.
