Abstract

VIEIRA, Érico Douglas; OLIVEIRA, Jeane Franco de  and  FERREIRA, Ludimila Gomes de Assis. The individual versus society conflict from the perspective fo psychodrama and gestalt therapy. Rev. bras. psicodrama [online]. 2013, vol.21, n.2, pp.65-78. ISSN 2318-0498.

This paper aims to invite reflection on the various barriers that our culture imposes on individual development and the organism's ability to self-regulate. We present some of Perls' and Moreno's thoughts on the difficulties and obstacles experienced in the existential flow within an unfavorable cultural context such as our society. Perls points out that society emphasizes intellectual development and produces neurotic expectations of perfection that result in the individual dissociating from his nature. Moreno argues that spontaneity is experienced in greater degrees during childhood. Society inhibits the spontaneity of individuals and values cultural conserves. In a world full of ready-made truths the conflict between society and the individual is a legitimate issue and needs to be brought out into the light.

Keywords : Psychodrama; Gestalt-therapy; Society.
