Abstract

GREEN, André. Repetition compulsion and the pleasure principle. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2007, vol.41, n.4, pp.133-141. ISSN 0486-641X.

The author tries to demonstrate that compulsion to repetition can also be found in material that is distant from acting-out. He highlights, in a clinical example, the hallucinatory quality of remembrance as an effect of denial and not of repression. The concepts of bonding and separation, related to the principle of pleasure-displeasure, are complemented, emphasizing the importance of the loss of meaning of the object’s content, with or without an acting-out.

Keywords : Compulsion to repetition; Denial; Bonding; Separation; Loss of meaning.
