Abstract
FONSECA, Felipe Lessa da. The masculine masochism in subjects: unconscious repetition. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2010, vol.44, n.3, pp.145-156. ISSN 0486-641X.
Masochism in men is reflected in view of the repetition compulsion that, in obsessive neuroses, can be characterized beyond the unconscious feeling of guilt, as described by Freud. Different from the castration fantasies of feminine masochism, masculine masochism implies the phallic narcissism of subjects who persist in choices in which the malaise is foreseen. Despite the shame caused by the supposition of the look of others, the pleasure involved in the self-destructive attitude of many men configures the possibility of a rude and fallacious style in the man's position in love. As an example, a case of a young woman is presented.
