Abstract

PEIXOTO JUNIOR, Carlos Augusto. Trauma, bare life and the state of exception: notes on clinic and politics. Interações [online]. 2006, vol.11, n.21, pp.57-78. ISSN 1413-2907.

This article intends to consider some possible relations between clinic and politics. With this purpose in mind, first we start from the analysis of ferenczi’s conceptions about trauma, comparing them concisely with the Freudian model. After that we pass to the discussion about the concepts of bare life and state of exception, as approached by Giorgio Agamben, supposing they can be used as paradigms to think about the traumatic aspects of contemporary politics. Last, we try to evaluate the incidence of these traumatic experiences considering the way of subjectivity’s production present nowadays, also searching to think about their clinical aspects in daily’s psychoanalytical practice. Approaching this practice in a politicalway we believe it is possible to analyze contemporary suffering as a form of resistance to power’s strategies, grounded mainly in subjectivity’s serialization.

Keywords : Trauma; Life; Clinic; Politics; Subjectivity.
