Abstract

The psychodynamics of work, says that work is a source of pleasure as well as suffer, within workers, and that defensive working strategies are essential to maintain their mental health. The study aims to analyze the types of defensive strategies applied by the food industry executives, in the Vale do Caí region. Based on a qualitative design method, where eight persons were interviewed, factors such as questionnaires and guided interviews were applied. The study showed, based on a critical analysis of the results, that the most predominant types of defensive strategies are the rationalization of working relations, the denial of their own feelings, the insignificance, given by the organization, towards precarious working conditions and the silence and flee upon this aspects. A reflection about the necessity to promote mental health prevention motions is undertaken, reducing therefore, the needs of a worker to utilize their own methods of mental health preservation.
