Abstract

GOMIDE, Paula Inez Cunha. Abuse, negligence, and parricide: a case study. Temas psicol. [online]. 2010, vol.18, n.1, pp.219-230. ISSN 1413-389X.

Matricide is defined as the mother's homicide committed by a son or a daughter. This field's literature points to the history of psychological, sexual, and physical abuse which those children and adolescents suffered until they reached the extreme behavior of killing their parents. This paper reports the psychotherapy treatment conducted with a matricide adolescent, and discusses the influence of family variables (neglect, physical, psychological and sexual abuse within the family) as matricide determinants.

Keywords : Matricide; Adolescence; Psychotherapy.
