Abstract

SOUZA, Mauricio Rodrigues de. The “fabric of strangeness” in anthropology and psychoanalysis (notes for an inter-textual dialogue). Psyche (Sao Paulo) [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.19, pp.33-46. ISSN 1415-1138.

Adopting as a background the experiential and hermeneutical dimensions present in the works of anthropologists and psychoanalysts, this article proposes a dialogue between the writings of Velho (1987) and Figueiredo (1994) debating the specificity of subjects like familiarity and strangeness in the realm of both fields. Once such questions involve simultaneously a technical and an ethical discussion, we suggest here the validity of using the Heideggerian concept of “serenity” (Gelassenheit) to reflect about them, searching for a rescue of the original dimension of interpretation as happening, movement and life.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; Anthropology; Hermeneutics; Ethics; Technique.
