Abstract

GOUVEIA, Raimundo  and  CAMINO, Leoncio. Psychosocial analysis of LGBT activist’s views about family and conjugality. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2009, vol.9, n.17, pp.47-65. ISSN 2175-1390.

Prejudice has caused the stigmatization of homosexuals on the basis of sexual behaviors, but also because of their politic organization. This politic and cultural movement has obtained the inclusion of some civil laws in the jurisprudence of certain countries, assuring rights that had been denied to people because of their sexual orientation. This study tries to understand how are articulated the discourses emitted by the homosexual movement regarding conjugality and personal accomplishment. It is observed that the aspirations of the militants do not necessarily consider a revolution in the ways of familiar constitution. In Brazil, heterosexuals do not need anymore to register officially their conjugal relations to deserve the protection of law; homosexuals demand the same rights. These claims do not seem based only on the necessity to legalize their relations, but to obtain isonomy of rights with heterosexuals.

Keywords : Social values; Gay/lesbian movement; Sexual orientation; Prejudice; Civil rights.
