Abstract

SILVA, Milena Leite  and  ARPINI, Dorian Mônica. The impact of the new Adoption Law in residential care: the perspective of psychologists and social workers who are part of professional teams. Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) [online]. 2013, vol.19, n.3, pp.422-440. ISSN 1677-1168.  https://doi.org/DOI-10.5752/P.1678-9563.2013v19n3p422.

This study is a qualitative research, carried out with eight psychologists and social workers of residential care in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. Its general aim was to know if they understand the changes of the new Adoption Law (Law 12.010/2009), and it is justified by the need to acknowledge the impact of laws regarding institutions. Semidirected interviews were carried out with professionals, aiming for indepth knowledge of their reflections, considering that is a core aspect in qualitative studies. Content analysis, as proposed by Bardin, was the chosen method concerning the analysis of the results. Results show evidence of change in the way professionals try to understand people in residential care, as well as the presence of the Individual Plan of Care, valuing accounts of their life histories. Final considerations highlight the importance of this new approach of the professionals, considering that it may contribute to consolidate the legislation, such as a working plan that aims at the interruption of residential care through family reinsertion or adoption
