Abstract

STROPPA, Thiago Virgílio da Silva; GOMES, Daniel Alexandre Gouvêa  and  LOURENCO, Lelio Moura. Violent videogames and violence/aggression player: a systematic literature review . Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) [online]. 2017, vol.23, n.3, pp.1012-1033. ISSN 1677-1168.  https://doi.org/10.5752/P.1678-9563.2017v23n3p1012-103.

Studies are developed in order to show the relationship between the practice of using violent videogames and the player’s aggressiveness/violence. Videogames have evolved a lot over the last years and they are getting closer to the reality and the amounts of players who play these violent games have also increased. This study held an systematic literature review between the years 2008 and 2013, seeking to highlight the studies about violent videogames and their relationship with aggressiveness/violence. 45 articles have been selected for full reading and the results showed the most authors who have published in area, the years with more publication, the most found results, the criticism to these works , the variables related to the study and other relevant data on these publications . Of the 45 found articles, 37 support the bias that there is a relationship between violent games and the player’s aggressiveness/violence.

Keywords : Violent videogames; Violent electronic games; Aggressiveness; Violence; Systematic literature review.
