For neuropsychologists, the quantitative results of the neuropsychological tests reflect the conceptual maturity and cognitive level of patients. It is known that many variables can affect the performance of individuals during the tests, and qualitative evaluation as important as the quantitative assessment. In order to investigate the allocation of the emphasis on qualitative evaluation by neuropsychologists in clinical practice, we conducted a qualitative study consisting of a semi-structured interviews with 11 professionals. The results were organized into 13 principles of classification and resulted in 31 categories, of which 27 dealt with the qualitative aspects. The data obtained showed that the importance given by neuropsychologists qualitative evaluation is still very short. New strategies must be drawn in order to improve the professional training of neuropsychology, seeking a more global cognitive and socio-affective. © Cien. Cogn. 2012; Vol. 17 (2): 002-013.
