Abstract

SATO, Leny; HESPANHOL BERNARDO, Marcia  and  OLIVEIRA, Fábio de. Social psychology of work and everyday life: the experience of workers in different micro-political contexts. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2008, n.15. ISSN 1870-350X.

This article illustrates the standpoint of a social psychology oriented to investigating work in everyday life as a particular micro-political process. After presenting the social psychology of work, three diverse research contexts are examined - toyotist companies, street market, and cooperatives - in which varied forms of experiencing work, acting and producing meanings stand out. The contradictions contrasts between the discourse on flexibility and the forms of resistance among workers at toyotist companies are highlighted; the organizational processes of the street market characterized by the tension between cooperativeness and competitiveness are featured; and the members' experiences built from everyday work relationships in distinct cooperatives are compared.

Keywords : Social psychology of work; Everyday life; Toyotism; Street market; Cooperativism.
