Abstract

Muscle dysmorphia is a medical term which has not yet been added to the latest DSM register, but which can be described in the Dismorfícs Body Disorders group. This pathology can affect anyone however it is known to be more common in men than in women, although exact numbers are difficult to estimate. Use of anabolic steroids and a dependence on physical exercise are all related to Muscle Dysmorphia. This article makes a bibliographical revision of the subject in last the ten years (1997 - 2007) and discourses on the paper of the Psychologist of the Sport. This is a subject which has received little attention. A broad investigation of the Sports Sciences.
