Abstract

SENA, Soraya da Silva  and  SOUZA, Luciana Karine de. ADHD on children's friendships. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. [online]. 2015, vol.8, n.2, pp.320-331. ISSN 1983-8220.

Scientific studies suggest a pattern of unsatisfied social relationships in children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), in some cases leading to rejection and victimization. This study describes features of friendship relations in 18 boys with ADHD, in comparison with 21 boys without the disorder. All participants were seven to nine years of age. Children responded individually to a semi-structured interview about their friendships and one best friend. Qualitative analysis showed that most contents identified on responses from boys with ADHD were similar to those provided by boys without ADHD. The only exception found was in attitudes towards conventional and moral aspects of friendships.

Keywords : Child; Friendship; Disorder.
