Abstract

SANTOS, Camila Abrão dos; PACCIULIO, Amanda Mota  and  PFEIFER, Luzia Iara. The influence of the family context in the symbolic play of children with cerebral palsy. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2010, vol.2, n.2, pp.3-20. ISSN 2175-2591.

This study had the objective of analyze the influence of family context in the performance of the symbolic play of children with Cerebral Palsy (CP), aged from 3 to 6 years. The Child- Initiated Pretend Play Assessment - ChIPPA, translated and culturally adapted for use in the Brazilian population was applied with 20 children who have CP and the Home Environment Resources Scale - RAF was administered with those responsible for the children. Most children who were classified as "needs intervention" in the symbolic play of ChIPPA presented in RAF score below the average found in the study, whereas children classified as "no risk" in the symbolic play in general have above the average score in RAF. Thus it is concluded that the stimulus of parents and school, the amount of resources to play and the living together with peers, may influence the development of playing in children with CP.
