Abstract

SEBASTIAN, F. Galán Jiménez Jaime; YERUTI, De Avila Ramírez Xochiquetzaly  and  HERNANDEZ, María del Carmen Rojas. Anorexia, religion and motherhood: a case study. Trivium [online]. 2016, vol.8, n.1, pp.86-95. ISSN 2176-4891.  https://doi.org/10.18379/2176-4891.2016v1p.86.

This paper presents an analysis of the case of B. to reflect on the concept of "holy anorexia". It is a narcissistic conflict in which purity, beauty and divinity appear veiled by guilt and emptiness. The case of B. is taken as a central axis from which discourses and theory are interwoven with the intention to delve into the dynamics involved between desire and nothing. She experiences an alienated body: temple of God, object inhabited by sin that might be redeemed in starvation as a possibility of immediate amendment. This analysis is presented as an opportunity to challenge the discourse that prevails in the life of B.

Keywords : HOLY ANOREXIA; RELIGION; MOTHERHOOD; DIVINITY; TRANSGRESSION.
