Abstract

The purpose is to develop and implement a program of social skills with adults aged between 60 and 80 years, women, members of a club of grandmothers in the city of Fernando de la Mora. The research uses a qualitative, descriptive and transactional intent. The design used in the research - action. The instruments were a questionnaire of social skills developed by the researcher and in-depth interviews, both individual and group. Four were measured social skills: Communication, Leadership, Assertiveness and Self Esteem, with a measure of input, processing and application development program and a description of the developments in these skills post program and at the end of it. Attitudinal changes were observed in group communication, replicated within families of some of the participants. Furthermore, a high willingness to implement the Democratic leadership in teamwork for their success. Finally, assertiveness was incorporated as a tool for externalization of self-esteem, which was established and valued by the elderly over the investigation.
