Abstract

NOGUEIRA, Tânia da Glória. The Pfister test in assessment of depression and anxiety in college students: preliminary evidences. Bol. psicol [online]. 2013, vol.63, n.138, pp.11-21. ISSN 0006-5943.

The aim of this study was to identify college students’ levels of depression and anxiety in the initial periods of their courses in Psychology, Journalism, Law, Education and Publicity of a private university in Belo Horizonte - state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The group was composed by 20 students who were evaluated by the following instruments: specifically developed questionnaire, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Beck Depression Inventory and the Pfister Color Pyramid Test. The quantitative analysis of data obtained indicates that 90% of the students have low or minimal depression scores and 40% have moderate or severe anxiety scores. The analysis of Pfister allowed to identify some of the students characteristics and indicated a level of anxiety that can compromise their internal balance, resulting in impulsive reactions, as well as diminishing the production capacity of 40% students
