Abstract

RACHE, Eliana. Dreamery: the skinless dream. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2009, vol.32, n.49, pp.156-161. ISSN 0101-3106.

The author tries to establish some differences between patients that dream and patients that do not know they dream. Freud, the work of dream, psychic work seen through the view of the XIX century is used as a counterpoint to show the patient typical of our times who lacks the capacity to symbolize. Instead, of representations, they use presentations which are detected through body-use either somatizations or behaviour. The author gives a sketch of posmodern society putting forward endless transformations which results into a different patient, a different clinic. Clinical material is used to illustrate the beginning of symbolization in a severely disturbed patient.

Keywords : Narcisistic-identities; Representation; Presentation; Symbol; Dream.
