Abstract

AZAMBUJA, Miguel de. Heroines. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2011, vol.34, n.52, pp.69-76. ISSN 0101-3106.

Considering figures of classical heroines as models the author analyses different destinies of femininity. The figure of the Amazon, as a warrior model, corresponds to what Freud called masculinity complex. Andromaque is a model for the feminine figure of the eternal link to the object, of endless pain, prisoner to a world of shadows. While Penelope’s love is constructed through the ability to sustain absence, it creates an anachronistic condition that permits the other to appear. The wedding bed shared with Penelope creates a marc that allows for a different way for Ulysses among the Greek heroes.

Keywords : Femininity; Lost; Absence; Penis envy; Wedding bed.
