Abstract

ARANTES, Urias. The agony of Oedipus: remarks on parents and being a parent. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2014, vol.37, n.58, pp.123-131. ISSN 0101-3106.

The point of this paper is to draw the attention of psychoanalysts to the problems posed by the currently decline of what is called the patriarchal family. Starting off from an analysis by J.-P. Lebrun, this paper shows the difficulty, which is perhaps more general, of approaching these questions by going back to the familiar and classic Oedipal model. Psychoanalysts rarely feel comfortable with the feminine or with feminisms, two dimensions which certainly open up new aspects to which psychoanalysis cannot remain indifferent.

Keywords : Parents; Being a parent; Oedipus; Matriarchy; Feminisms.
