Abstract

KOTTLER, Arthur  and  ZORNIG, Silvia Abu-Jamra. The work of the negative and its relationship to the life and death drives. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2018, vol.50, n.1, pp.215-235. ISSN 0101-4838.

This paper analyzes some of Andre Green's original contributions regarding the concept of the "work of the negative", particularly its relationship to "the objectalizing and disobjectalizing function" of the life and death drives. It also stresses the fundamental role of the primary object's investment for the psychic constitution of the subject, indicating however that the object's disobjectalizing function is as primordial as the objectalizing one and can also be put to the service of life drives.

Keywords : André Green; work of the negative; drives; objectalizing function; disobjectalizing function.
