Abstract

MARCOS, Cristina Moreira  and  CAROZZI, Silvane. A beacon of method: the relationship between literature and psychoanalysis. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2021, vol.53, n.1, pp.279-300. ISSN 0101-4838.

The relationship between literature and psychoanalysis is often understood within a mechanistic model of the "application" of psychoanalytic concepts to literary work. This practice has been the object of pertinent criticism, whose aim would be to reveal the reductionist character of this procedure with regard to literature and also to psychoanalysis. The article discusses the relation between literature and psychoanalysis, indicating that the reading that interests us is not aligned in the application of psychoanalytic concepts to the literary work. It starts from the idea that "truth is revealed in a poetic structure" to locate the dialogical relationship between literature and psychoanalysis, shifting the idea of "application" to that of "implication" and from it to a "practice of the letter", where it is possible to execute its power. We find in Lacan the key of reading that guides the relation of psychoanalysis to literature: "this is not a madrigal, but a goal of method".

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; literatura; method; interpretation.
