Abstract

MARUCCO, Norberto C.. The contemporary clinic and its metapsychological roots. J. psicanal. [online]. 2012, vol.45, n.83, pp.71-84. ISSN 0103-5835.

The author when asked about contemporary psychoanalysis, resorts to Freud for a basis to think "present-day pathology". He defines so called "zones" or "areas" of psychic functioning, sprung from freudian metapsychology, circumscribing what he considers the five fundamental themes in Freud's work: dreams, narcissism, death instinct, identification and fetishism. His propositions for an update of the analytic work are found in the elucidation and exploration of these themes.

Keywords : Dream; narcissism; death instinct; identification; fetishism.
