This article describes the situation of building up the Affiliated Members Association as a working group, based on Bion's ideas of groups. The transience and impermanence are constitutive features of the AMF, which is a working group under permanent construction in the institutional settings of the Brazilian Psychoanalytic Society of São Paulo. Resuming part of the story of the AMF, the authors propose that this group can use its constitutive features to motivate the contemporary psychoanalytic debate. Several groups are formed inside the larger group, which is the SBPSP. They all share the same phenomena that are seen in other human groups, in which issues involving power are always in vogue. The authors defend the idea that the silent zones that are formed between constituted, stabilized groups can be shaken and continually rethought.
