This article discusses reading literature in early childhood. It departs from the standpoint that literature, this cultural heritage, contributes to the infant's entry into the symbolic order. The article will also deal with the importance of literature for the development of the infant's thinking and imagination; as well as for the development of the capacity to elaborate painful and unavoidable situations of life.
