Abstract

SILVANO, Juliane Dutra da Rosa  and  GODOY, Dalva Maria Alves. Fluency and Reading Comprehension: Research in focus. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2022, vol.39, n.119, pp.262-269. ISSN 0103-8486.  https://doi.org/10.51207/2179-4057.20220023.

In the context of a graphocentric society, the full development of the literacy process and the skills involved in it is essential. For this, it is necessary to constantly reflect on the aspects involved in this process, so that it happens through reasoned and effective practices. As the automation of decoding skills is the starting point for achieving fluent reading and comprehension is the arrival point for the constitution of a skilled reader, reading fluency can be considered the link between decoding and reading comprehension. It is precisely the relationship between fluency and reading comprehension that is the object of analysis of the present study, that is, it aimed to analyze, through a survey of academic productions in the selected databases, the existence or not of this relationship and its directionality. The results obtained point to the existence of a relationship between these skills, but still without a clear definition of its directionality.

Keywords : Reading; Literacy; Reading Fluency; Reader Understanding.
