Abstract

LIBOTTI, Renata Teixeira da Vitória. The “atypical” speech and the social environment - daily challenges. Rev. psicopedag. [online]. 2023, vol.40, n.122, pp.267-270.  Epub June 24, 2024. ISSN 0103-8486.  https://doi.org/10.51207/2179-4057.20230024.

When dealing with neuro-atypical children, both parents and professionals might face a great uncertainty: the prognosis. Communication skills can help children understand and explain the world around them, share ideas and feelings, and make friends. The communicative ability enables the child to argue and, consequently, learn, in addition to developing a sense of belonging. Speech impairment is an issue that can generate doubts, fear and insecurity, as communication is a very important path for successful learning. Regarding learning a foreign language, such questions can be even more present. However, enough encouragement, coupled with persistence, can be the recipe for knocking down some obstacles.
