Abstract
GAMBOA, Felipe Cataldo et al. To assess risk tendency. Is it reliable use "alerta test"? An exploratory study of mining service workers. Salud & Sociedad [online]. 2012, vol.3, n.1, pp.50-64. ISSN 0718-7475.
The 'Alerta Test' is widely used in recruitment processes to assess risk tendency, and also to predict accident reduction and risk prevention. Regrettably, this instrument doesn't have manual, authors or theoretical basis to support its use. In this study, the psychometric properties of the test were analyzed. The participants were 111 workers of service mining organization. We analyzed reliability and validity of the test, using several procedures (test-retest, and internal consistency, exploratory factorial analysis and related construct correlations). We found that Alerta Test doesn't have reliability and validity, and it doesn't correlate significantly with any of the three dimensions related to attitude toward risk: impulsiveness, locus of control, and risk tendency). Finally, we discussed the implications of keep using Alerta Test to assess attitude towards risk
