The aim of this paper is to study how a group of obese women negotiates meanings and elaborate communication codes in function of the socio-historical context in which they live, in particular in connection with the topic of the obesity. The study is carried out following the interactional sociolinguistic methodology. It is observed that the participants meet to discuss their different experiences of life, looking for the consent of the friends to value their current point of view inside the alternative of the surgical intervention. It seemed that the search of promised thinness by the mean of the aesthetic surgery, not only it is seen as the alternative to reach the wanted body, but the full happiness. We think that speeches like these leave in undoubtedly there is a necessity to promote healthier models as standard of beauty.
