This study had as its objective to describe a model reactive telephone counseling for smokers who want to quit smoking utilizing the services of VIVAVOZ - The National Services of Information and Orientation on Prevention of Drug Abuse. Reactive telephone counseling is based on the case study of a smoker in the process of quitting cessation, who sought VIVAVOZ about drug use to help in changing drug dependency. It considers the importance of reactive telephone counseling for smoking cessation. The instruments applied in the assessment included The Fagerström Tolerance Questionnaire, smoking-history questionnaire, University of Rhode Island Change Assessment Scale (URICA), the Contemplation Ladder Scale. The presented model demonstrated positive results, in this specific case, increasing motivation to cease smoking, the period of abstinence and attempts to cease.
