Abstract
LHULLIER, Cristina. The teaching of History of Psychology and animated movies: possible new interactions. Temas psicol. [online]. 2009, vol.17, n.1, pp.275-284. ISSN 1413-389X.
Higher education teachers should be attentive to the appearance of teaching means that allow new learning opportunities for the students. The present paper intends to describe the use of the "Curious George" animated feature in the History of Psychology class during 2008. This movie allows the relating of concepts and theories of Functionalism to the story being told. The advantages of this teaching resource are a shorter duration of cartoons, compared to live action movies, allowing better in-class time management, and also ease identification of topics raised by the teacher, as the plot presents consistency regarding the characters ' behavior, linear narrative and self-explanatory ending. Far from infantilizing the students, this resource opens up dialogue possibilities between the latter and Psychological Science and also brings back the ludic aspects of learning.
