ABSTRACT The following paper has the goal to discuss the role of psychological evaluation in the exercise of sports psychology in Brazil. Therefore, six sports psychologists were interviewed in order to bring forth their opinions about psychological evaluation in their daily work. A survey containing five semi-directed questions, regarding the personal comprehension about psychological evaluation in sports, the importance given to its application at the beginning of the work, the adopted procedures, the usage of psychological evaluation and the hardships found. The reports were discussed in light of the literature of both areas - Sports Psychology and Psychological Evaluation. The relevance of the psychological evaluation in sports' context to the athlete knowledge of its relations and its context has been observed, as well as its importance as guide to psychological interventions. Interviews, observation and application of the psychological tests show themselves as majority, regarding the adopted procedures in the psychological evaluations. The latter are referred as the most difficult by the reports given by the interviewed, given to the inexistence of specific psychological tests to the sportive reality thoroughly proved and adapted to the Brazilian population.
