Abstract

MAHONEY, Abigail Alvarenga  and  ALMEIDA, Laurinda Ramalho de. Affectivity and teaching-learning process: contributions from Henri Wallon. Psicologia da educação [online]. 2005, n.20, pp.11-30. ISSN 1414-6975.

The article discusses concepts from Henri Wallon's theory of development that are fundamental for the understanding of the affective dimension and its relevance to the development of the teaching-learning process. The first part analyses the teaching-learning process as a unity, in which the teacher-students interpersonal relationship is a determinant factor. The second part brings arguments to justify the choice of this theory to focus on the role of affectivity in the teaching-learning process. The third discusses the various components of affectivity (emotions, feelings, passion) and their function in the different stages of development. Finally, a table with the main characteristics of the stages is presented.

Keywords : Affectivity; Henri Wallon's theory of development; Affectivity and teaching-learning process.
