Abstract

OLIVEIRA JUNIOR, Paulo Sérgio de. HUNGER TO LEARN: CONTRIBUTIONS OF RACIAL LITERACY TO PSYCHOPEDAGOGY. Constr. psicopedag. [online]. 2024, vol.34, n.35, pp.94-110.  Epub June 24, 2024. ISSN 1415-6954.  https://doi.org/10.37388/cp2024/v34n35a08.

This article, the result of the clinical experience obtained during the lato sensu postgraduate course - specialization, evaluates the ideas of Critical Racial Literacy as a possible contribution to Psychopedagogy. To this end, a bibliographical review is carried out, highlighting the concepts of Psychopedagogical Science regarding learning difficulties, learning deficits and school failure, mainly based on the work of Fernandez (2001). The concept of Literacy is also revisited so that the term Critical Racial Literacy can be introduced, as proposed by Ferreira (2015). Finally, a case study of a black patient with written expression difficulties is presented, presenting the resources used for the intervention, through cultural objects of Afro-descendant origin (films and texts with black themes). The report demonstrates that the cultural objects presented by the professional, linked to the bond established between therapist and patient, enabled the establishment of a creative space, in which the client was able to give new meaning to their vision in relation to written expression.
