Abstract

SOUZA, Adriano de; BECKER, Ana Paula Sesti; GUISSO, Luciane  and  BOBATO, Sueli Terezinha. Psychological attention to the surgical patient: report of experience from the point of view of humanization of health. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2021, vol.41, n.100, pp.65-73. ISSN 1415-711X.

This is a report of internship experience in Hospital Psychology developed in a surgical unit of a public hospital in southern Brazil. The objective of the intervention was to analyze the practices in Hospital Psychology in the surgical unit, from the perspective of humanization of comprehensive care, meeting the prerogatives of the Unified Health System. Eleven patients were followed up within six months. Interventions included listening practices to the technical team, visits and welcoming to patients' beds and the elaboration of a protocol that standardized the data obtained. The results allowed the incentive to the humanization of care, besides contributing to the systematization of specific information in the field of Psychology. It also favored the teaching-service integration in multidisciplinary care for patients in the surgical ward, under the biopsychosocial paradigm, made possible by exchanges with the institution's work team, in addition to instrumentalizing the action praxis and consolidating the professional identity of the psychologist in the respective institution. It is understood that investing in internship fields and enabling the student to observe and get closer to the professional practice anchored in his experiences and theories, are potentializing resources in the training of the psychologist.
