Abstract

HERNANDEZ, Aline Reis Calvo  and  SCARPARO, Helena Beatriz K.. Regarding to research in political psychology: from the socio-historical and epistemological issues to the counter-methodological anarchism by Paul Feyerabend. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.29, pp.21-34. ISSN 1519-549X.

We have approached the theme methodology in Social Psychology through a debate that discusses different epistemologies throughout Psychology history. For such, we began the analysis choosing some historical markers: the emergence of Psychology at the height of modernity, its adherence to the scientistic and Cartesian model in favor of the acquiring of a scientific status and what we call "epistemological turning point", a historical moment of deep questioning to the entrenched methodological practices and the effects produced. The main concern was to discuss the epistemological issues in research, introducing the methodological anarchism by Paul Feyerabend as an epistemological possibility of research in Social and Political Psychology, asking: At the height of late modernity, what would be the ontological status of Psychology? Did we overcome the Cartesian dualism that opens up our area of expertise? These and other issues will be discussed on this article.

Keywords : Paul Feyerabend; Anarchism methodological; Epistemology; Sociopolitical Psychology; Research.
