Abstract
OLIVEIRA, Eliezer Cardoso. "For the right of force": valentia as a component of Pedro Ludovico Teixeira's political personality. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2020, vol.20, n.49, pp.532-547. ISSN 2175-1390.
The objective of this article is to analyze the prominence of Pedro Ludovico Teixeira (1891-1979) in Goiás politics, with the hypothesis that the representation of bravure was one of the decisive elements for its political success, being the main leadership of the state since the Revolution of 1930 until the beginning of the Military Regime in 1964. Ludovico sought to construct, in his autobiographical writings, an image who associates his personality with the values of honor, courage, strength and firmness in decisions. However, his administration was marked by discretionary and arbitrary acts against opponents of his construction project in Goiânia. It is believed that the success of politicians who make use of the rhetoric of valor shows a predilection of Brazilian society for personalities of authoritarian bias.
