Abstract

PEREIRA, ANDERSON DE CARVALHO. The psychiatrization of politics in contemporary brazilian daily life in print and online media. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2023, vol.23, n.57, pp.345-358.  Epub June 07, 2024. ISSN 2175-1390.

In this paper we show how the discourses of the contemporary Brazilian political scene circulate in the daily life, supported by what appears to be evidence from Psychiatry. It is, therefore, a research that refers to the historical-discursive aspects of the construction of a notion of inferiority. To do this, reports on current Brazilian politicians were analyzed (including headlines, news keywords, comments from readers and internet users), under the bias of Pêcheux’s Discourse Analysis and Lacan’s Psychoanalysis. The results show a dispersed topic between the evidence of the “diagnosis” and the erasure of other possible interpretations, namely: the relationship between politics and crime, disagreement and contradiction to the detriment of consensus.

Keywords : psychopathology; mental health; politics; discourse analysis; social psychology.
