Abstract

The article’s main objective is to present an analysis of the feeling of trust in Brazilian democratic institutions, taking as context the pandemic caused by the coronavirus (Covid-19). The presented were collected from July to November 2020 and enabled the analysis and theoretical articulation on the relationship between trust, legitimacy, and obedience, considering the Brazilian context and the challenges inherent in coping with the pandemic. The results indicated differences in the level of trust in 12 democratic institutions, according to political-ideological positioning. High levels of trust were observed in Brazilian Scientists, Brazilian Universities, Health Professionals and the Unified Health System (SUS) and lower levels of trust in the Presidency of the Republic, National Congress and the Supreme Federal Court.
