Abstract

AGUIAR, Carolina Villa Nova  and  BASTOS, Antonio Virgilio Bittencourt. Translation, adaptation and validity evidence for the measure of Work-Family Conflict. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2013, vol.12, n.2, pp.203-212. ISSN 1677-0471.

Work-Family Conflict has been defined as a type of conflict between different roles, in which the pressures come from the occupational and family spheres seem irreconcilable. This study validates to Brazilian reality a measure of this concept, including the dimensions Work to Family Interference and Family to Work Interference. The sample had 994 workers, with predominance of: women (59,1%), singles (51,5%) and young people (77,3% are between 19 and 35 years old). For analyses, exploratory and confirmatory factorials were conducted. The first stage suggested a bifactorial measure and, based on these results, a measurement model was specified for the confirmatory analysis. The model fit index was near the target, but indicated that chances in the model would allow a better adherence of the data. Therefore, one path was inserted between the errors of two items and, then, the indices have become satisfactory. In conclusion, the measure presented good psychometric.
