MOSMANN, Clarisse Pereira; COSTA, Crístofer Batista da; DELATORRE, Marina Zanella  and  WAGNER, Adriana. Scale of Conjugal Conflict: Internal validity and relation to other variables. Aval. psicol. Marital conflicts are part of the adaptation process between spouses and contribute to the understanding of the characteristics of the relational dynamics between the pair. To further the assessment of marital conflicts two studies are presented in this article. The first investigated evidence of validity for the Marital Conflict Scale, by analyzing its internal structure with a sample of 244 couples. The results showed that the model of the instrument adjusted to the data. Study two investigated the predictive power of the length of the union and the frequency and intensity of conflicts in the marital adjustment of 485 individuals. The participants responded to a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Scale of Marital Conflict, and the Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale. The frequency and intensity of conflicts were predictors of marital adjustment. Studies I and II provide evidence of validity based on the internal structure of the Marital Conflict Scale and the relationship to marital adjustment.

Keywords : marital relations; marital adjustment; test validity.
