Abstract

BEATO, Mônica Soares da Fonseca  and  FERREIRA NETO, João Leite. GRADUATION IN PSYCHOLOGY AT ONE PUBLIC UNIVERSITY AND ITS REPERCUSSIONS ON COMPETENCES OF THE WORK IN PUBLIC POLICIES. Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) [online]. 2016, vol.22, n.2, pp.516-536. ISSN 1677-1168.  https://doi.org/DOI-10.5752/P.1678-9523.2016V22N2P516.

The aim of this study was to investigate how to approach the professional competence(s) in the public policies field, during the graduation in Psychology. The article starts by questioning the notion of competence(s) and the related conceptual debate on reflective education. Four dimensions fuel this debate: the epistemological, the ethical-political, the pedagogical and the institutional one. The findings of the case study on a course at a public university are presented by means of the analysis of syllabus documents and interviews with teachers, students and graduates who have become workers in public policies. We concluded that the course still does not have a critical appropriation of the syllabus guidelines and the current debate on the psychologists’ training in face of competences in public policies. The syllabus lacks mechanisms to reach the generalist profile, the interdisciplinary and the insertion into the network. However, we also noticed many favorable conditions in relation to changes
