Abstract
BARBEIRO, Felipe de Souza and REIS, Maria Elizabeth Barreto Tavares dos. Remote communication in psychoanalysis, previous and present: a narrative review. Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) [online]. 2021, vol.27, n.1, pp.245-264. ISSN 1677-1168. https://doi.org/10.5752/P.1678-9563.2021v27n1p245-264.
With the onset of technology, modes of communication have changed, and the context of psychoanalytic clinic is no exception. If nowadays it is possible to keep in touch via digital platforms like WhatsApp and Skype, at an earlier time, psychoanalysts such as Freud, Bion, Klein, Lacan and Dolto communicated with each other by writing and radio. Letters permeated the development of several theoretical-methodological aspects of psychoanalysis among the practitioners. Since all writing is virtual, we verify both the progress of psychoanalytical concepts and the personality of the authors. The present study comprises a narrative review, which aim is to describe the means of remote communication used by psychoanalysts in the past and nowadays. One can infer that the modes of communication have changed according to the technologies available each given time, an important fact to ponder on the subjectivity of individuals and their reflection in the psychoanalytic clinic.
