The aim of this work is to present the methodological foundations of focus group, its applications, potentialities and limits. In the research field of social science and health, and in the development and evaluation of social and education programas, there is an increase use of focus group. The application of this methodology, being used with other technique or just by it self, has become an important tool in the approach of researches/professionals to the target population in several moments of projects and researchs.
